You may have read about the ‘Life Changing Magic of Tidying’ by Marie Kondo. She likes to point out that holding on to items that do not give you joy is a waste of time and space and a cluttered house equals a cluttered mind. I tend to agree with her.
It is with this in mind that I decided to clean out my fridge first thing New Year 2020. This sounds like I don’t or haven’t ever cleaned out the fridge before which isn’t true. However, I found that making this effort on the 1stJanuary really pleasing as it helped me focus on all the exciting foods I wanted to consume this year and bin all the unwanted Christmas Cheese and other such junk.
I intend to follow this example throughout the whole house this year, setting myself a little project each month to ensure I can stick to it and make space in my house, and in my head. This is also very handy as I can donate lots to charity, upcycle and sell some bits of furniture and generally have a ‘good old clear out’ which will make me feel better. In all senses of the phrase!
Here are some photos of my work. I have a rainbow of foods to enjoy, I have batch cooked and prepped foods for the week and found this all very calming for the mind.
Clean fridge, clean life!
