4 Simple Steps to Healing Endometriosis Naturally
Endometriosis is a painful condition where tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside of the uterine cavity.
This displaced endometrial tissue leads to cysts, scar tissue, and adhesions. It’s a chronic and debilitating disease that affects approximately 176 million women of reproductive age world-wide, or around 10%. In the UK, its 1 in 10.
Symptoms include, severe pelvic pain, especially during your period which can also be heavy and clotty; pain during intercourse, pain with bowel movements and infertility. Constipation, painful digestion and nausea may also present as symptoms.
According to the NHS website, the causes of endometriosis is unknown. In fact, any medical website you search on, they will say the same thing. However, they are able to treat symptoms!
Medically, there is no cure for endometriosis and the advice is either to just to live with it and deal with symptoms with medication (birth control, pain killers, etc.) or surgery, often leading to a hysterectomy, which in itself will lead to chronic issues further down the line. Unfortunately, medical treatments are often ineffective and have negative side effects.
The Actual Cause
Endometrial tissue is partly made up of glandular tissue and connective tissue, which have immune properties. Now, this is important to note… glandular tissue is highly sensitive to hormones, primarily, oestrogen. Women who have high levels of oestrogen, have a higher risk of getting endometriosis. So, what causes high oestrogen levels?
Tampons – 94% of all cotton is GMO, so if you are not using organic tampons, the chances are the cotton in your tampon is GMO and contain chemicals that act as rouge hormones. This can wreak havoc on your entire body.
Conventional meat and diary products – ingesting hormones from another animal will confuse the body, even if you eat organic. Milk is comprised of a lot of growth hormones. Cows’ milk grows baby cows. You already have an abnormal growth of tissue, so you really do not want to be adding more. If you have any womb condition or you are oestrogen dominant, diary free is best.
Soya – any product containing soya in any form is oestrogenic.
Grains – highly inflammatory. Endometriosis is an inflammatory condition.
Sugar – again, highly inflammatory and likely to be GMO.
4 Simple Steps to Healing Endometriosis Naturally
Thankfully, there are many ways to reverse endometriosis naturally. Using foods, supplements and herbs will help calm down the inflammatory process and balance hormones. Your body is able to heal, provided you provide it with the nutrients it needs to kick start the healing process.
Step 1 – Heal Your Gut With any natural healing regime, your primary focus is to ensure your gut is working well so you can easily break down and absorb nutrients from whole food. If you have IBS for example, not much change will come if you have a constipated inflamed gut or you have diarrhoea. Either toxins will be re-circulated because you are backed up or nothing will get absorbed because it goes through the system to quickly.
Step 2 Eat an anti-inflammatory diet Clean up your eating habits, so you focus less on sugar, grains and meat, which are inflammatory and more on eating fresh fruit and vegetables, which are calming, nourishing and healing. There are ways to prepare vegetables so you gain the maximum nutrition, they are easy to digest and they taste super delicious.
Also focus on anti-oestrogenic foods such as the cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and cabbage. These vegetables contain high levels of (good) phytoestrogens that prevent unwanted oestrogen from exerting its effects. Lightly steam these veggies for easier digestion if you have a sensitive gut.
Step 3 Correct hormonal imbalances An anti-inflammatory healing diet is the best way to do this followed by a tailor made supplement and herbal protocol to help eliminate unwanted oestrogen from your body. Good gut motility is crucial for this.
Step 4 Balance Blood Sugar Poor blood sugar control leads to elevated insulin and cortisol which can cause the release of oestrogen. This may also lead to deficiencies in certain nutrients such as magnesium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6 which are important for neutralizing excess oestrogen.
There is no need to accept just having to live with endometriosis or any other uterine condition when you can take charge and heal your own body.
