Feeling bloated and uncomfortable in your clothes is the Number 1 symptom of IBS and usually the first symptom to appear. Your body is trying to tell you that it isn’t happy with what you are putting in, much like a car would be if you put the wrong fuel in.

The phrase I hear all the time from my clients is:

“I feel so bloated and I look like I’m 6 months pregnant”

Now, of course looking pregnant is perfectly healthy when you are pregnant, we are not discriminating against pregnant ladies, I just want to make that very clear.  However, when all you have done is got up and eaten breakfast and your stomach has gone from flat to looking 6 months pregnant then it stands to reason it is your breakfast that is causing the bloating.

Discovering what could be causing that symptom is quite difficult on your own.  No doubt you have already tried food diaries with no obvious pattern into what it could be.  This could be for a number of reasons, however the main reason is that IBS symptoms (of which Bloating is one) can take 48 hours to appear.  Yet we only notice when they appear immediately.  If you eat something and immediately get bloated you would assume that the thing you just ate caused the symptom.

This is not always the case.  It may be that what you just ate reacted to something that was already in your gut from the day before OR that you have a bacterial imbalance and the bacteria are reacting to the food.  This is why you can eat the same meal two days running and get a reaction once and not the second time.  Which is why it is extremely frustrating, inaccurate (and boring) writing food diaries.

The only way to know for certain what foods you body is struggling with is to do a food intolerance test.  There are many on the market to chose from and most of these are pretty accurate.  Particularly if the test comes from a recommended source with a fully qualified Digestive Health Specialist available to guide you as to what to do next.

Getting results is one thing but knowing what to do with that information is the hard part.

We offer a fully comprehensive, tried and tested, successful program to get your digestive health at its best.  You can reduce your IBS symptoms, including bloating, by up to 95% simply and easily with continued support, guidance, motivation, inspiration and a bit of a kick up the proverbial, as and when required…!

Having good digestion isn’t just good for a flat belly.  It is essential for absorbing nutrients in your food.  Eating serves one purpose and one purpose only.  To provide your body with energy in order to function.  We ‘eat’ for a number of other reasons such as ‘its breakfast time’ or ‘its lunchtime’ as well as for emotional comfort, tradition, religious or ceremonial reasons (such as wedding breakfasts that are usually mid afternoon) as well as because you are actually feeling hungry, or maybe even ‘hangry’.

If your digestive system is struggling to digest the food you are putting in then there is a good chance that your body isn’t absorbing all the nutrients within your food.  This can lead to feelings of tiredness, irritability, lethargy, depression, headaches, illnesses and a general feeling of fogginess. Therefore, it isn’t just having a flat belly that is important to fix here.  Getting your digestive system filtering in the good stuff and eliminating the waste is essential for your every day health.

Don’t put up with the unknown.  Get tested, Get supported. Get better.
