My Experience With Attempting To Get My IBS Under Some Sort Of Control…
Let me tell you a personal story about how I went from not knowing what was causing my IBS symptoms, being confused about what I should eat, always being worried about my embarrassing wind and never being able to go to the toilet for a comfortable bowel movement] to [moving my bowels easily each morning with no more awkward ‘windy’ moments and knowing exactly what to eat whether cooking at home or eating out in a restaurant…
10 years ago, I was so frustrated with my body letting me down in public. I had really started to hate my own guts.
I had tried to go on various elimination diets, got food allergy tests done at the doctors, had blood tests, had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, tried endless medications that didn’t work, I saw a Dietician and tried the FODMAP diet.
I Even Tried A Variety Of Holistic Treatments…
…to work on my mind-set and stress levels as I was told my IBS was stress related (of course I was stressed, I was a social pariah)! Whilst these treatments were fantastic and felt nice, I saw no real results from these.
I really wanted to solve this problem because it was getting to the point where I couldn’t hold down a boyfriend or a job, as I was so mortified about my embarrassing wind and irregular toilet habits. I just wanted to live a normal life not thinking about holding in a fart, whether I had enough perfume in my bag to cover any accidental smells or where the nearest toilet was should my body decide that it was actually ‘ready to go’. Which was always just as soon as I arrived somewhere public…!
At that point, I was at my wit’s end. I even stopped eating completely in front of a guy I was seeing, as I couldn’t fathom out what I was eating that was causing this embarrassing wind to be coming out of me all the time- and I knew this was leading me down a very unhealthy and different path.
It Just Wasn’t Working Out
I decided that something HAD to change. I made it my mission to find answers. I spent years researching digestive health and doing many ‘trial and error’ diets with little to no effect. I travelled around the world enjoying a variety of fasting, detoxing and cleansing retreats to see if I could shift any ‘blockages’ from my bowels and get them to function more effectively. I spoke to world leaders in digestive health and got tonnes of ideas and advice. I even found a nutritionist who tested me for food allergies and intolerances.
After nearly 10 years of testing things out, I finally managed to figure out how to rid my body of the embarrassing IBS symptoms that had been holding me back my whole life… and I’ll be sharing the solution with you right now!
